The first airing of this episode is scheduled for this evening, September 30, 2009 at 10PM ET. The episode will be re-aired at 1AM ET tomorrow, October 1, 2009.
Research Frontiers licensee Innovative Glass Corp. supplied the SPD-SmartGlass for this episode. Innovative Glass used SPD film manufactured by Hitachi Chemical Company, Ltd.
The upcoming episode explores whether humans could build “Extopia” – a mile-high skyscraper – in the future, and emphasizes the strategic role that smart glass from Innovative Glass could have in sustainable building design.
SPD-Smart products use patented SPD film technology developed and licensed by Research Frontiers (NASDAQ: REFR). With the touch of a button or turn of a dial, users can instantly and precisely adjust the tint of windows, skylights, sunroofs and other products. Automated adjustment of SPD-Smart products also is available using sensors or timing devices. SPD films can be combined with other glazing materials, such as materials used in armored glass, to meet a wide range of end-product requirements across many applications.
