On May 2, 2007, Gregory M. Sottile, Ph.D., Director of Market Development for Research Frontiers (Nasdaq: REFR), was an invited presenter at the Smart Materials Symposium of the 2007 Society of Vacuum Coaters Annual Technical Conference in Louisville, Kentucky.
Dr. Sottile’s presentation summarized a nationwide market research study of LEED Accredited Professionals on the subject of smart glass. This first-of-its kind study examined a variety of attitudes and usage behaviors as they pertain to smart glass. Buildings consume nearly 40% of the energy used in the United States, and the study highlighted the advantages of using smart glass in sustainable architectural design. The level of awareness of smart glass products was found to be very high, and over 92% of architects surveyed claim they would be likely to recommend or specify smart glass.
