BRIGNAIS, FRANCE and TORONTO, CANADA. Research Frontiers (Nasdaq: REFR) licensee Vision Systems has announced it will exhibit its SPD-Smart(TM) Nuance and Noctis products next week at the 2011 Bombardier Operators Conference and Tradeshow being held May 2-5, 2011 in Toronto, Canada. These products offer instant and complete light-control within aircraft interiors.
Vision Systems’ SPD-Smart Nuance aerospace windows provide original equipment manufacturers and private aircraft owners with a solar protection solution that enhances flying comfort and supports fuel efficiency. Nuance aircraft and helicopter window shades are impact-resistant, completely silent, available in flat and curved surfaces, and can be controlled by the cabin management system or by passengers.
The SPD-Smart Noctis shading system from Vision Systems, for use in aircraft window shades and cabin dividers, offers on-demand blackout solar protection and complete privacy as needed.
“We believe that SPD-Smart Noctis Shading systems are one of the unique opportunities for cabin differentiation and enhancement in commercial aircrafts,” commented Carl Putman, CEO of Vision Systems. “More and more passenger are using their portable devices in aircraft and would like to have greater control of light dimming than with conventional mechanical shades. In addition, because of environmental constraints, airlines are looking for solutions that can provide better heat management on today’s larger windows. On top of that, our SPD-Smart Noctis solution provides weight-savings and increases cabin interior spaces as a bonus.”
Made with patented light-control SPD film developed by Research Frontiers, SPD-SmartGlass(TM) is the world’s fastest-switching variably tintable dynamic glazing technology. It is the only dimmable window technology that gives users the ability to instantly and precisely control the level of shading to any point between very dark and clear. This provides exceptional control over solar energy while also adding to user comfort and protecting interiors. Available in both glass and lightweight polycarbonate substrates, SPD-Smart products – windows, skylights, doors, partitions, sunroofs and more – are laminated glazings that offer a distinctive combination of sustainability and security, can be controlled manually or automatically, and are available in custom sizes and fabrications for new construction, replacement and retrofit projects.
The 2011 Bombardier Operators Conference and Tradeshow brings together aircraft operators, suppliers and others to showcase innovative products and services. More information is available from the event website.
