March 6, 2012 –, a leading automotive industry news source, recently completed an interview with Joseph M. Harary, President and CEO of Research Frontiers.
In this interview, Joe Harary highlights many of the design and performance advantages of SPD-SmartGlass including fast and uniform switching speed, the availability of an infinite number of easily attained light-control levels, and the ability to produce SPD-Smart products in curved designs and in either glass or polycarbonate fabrications. Joe also speaks about the heat-rejecting capabilities of SPD-SmartGlass, noting that SPD-Smart technology has been shown by Mercedes-Benz’ testing to reduce vehicle cabin temperature by 18 degrees F or 10 degrees C. Daimler AG has adopted SPD-SmartGlass technology for the all-glass roofs of two of its roadsters – the Mecedes-Benz SLK and the Mercedes-Benz SL. A number of end-product applications are discussed in the interview, including those for the automotive, aerospace and architectural markets.
