Research Frontiers to Exhibit SPD-SmartGlass at Glass Expo Northeast 2011 in Long Island
Attendees Will Have the Opportunity to Experience the Superior Performance of SPD-SmartGlass Windows Over Electrochromic Windows
Imagine being able to press a button and instantly change the tint of your windows to control light, glare and heat, enhance privacy and improve security. Research Frontiers Inc. (Nasdaq: REFR), joined by licensee LTI Smart Glass, Inc., will exhibit state-of-the-art SPD-SmartGlass(TM) this week at Glass Expo Northeast 2011 (booth #507) being held March 17-18, 2011 at the Hyatt Regency Long Island at Wind Watch Hotel & Golf Club in Hauppauge, New York.
SPD-SmartGlass technology was adopted by Daimler AG for its new Mercedes-Benz SLK roadster introduced earlier this year, and is also flying in 24 different aircraft models. Now architects, glaziers, industry professionals and building owners in the Tri-State Area will have the opportunity to experience first-hand the exceptional performance advantages of SPD-Smart windows.
Made using patented light-control SPD film developed by Research Frontiers, SPD-SmartGlass is the world’s fastest-switching variably tintable dynamic glazing technology. It is the only dimmable window technology that gives users the ability to instantly and precisely control the level of shading to any point between very dark and clear. This provides exceptional control over incoming solar energy while also adding to user comfort and protecting interiors. Available in both glass and lightweight polycarbonate panels, SPD-Smart(TM) products – windows, skylights, doors, partitions, sunroofs – are laminated glazings that offer a distinctive combination of sustainability and security, can be controlled manually or automatically, and are available in custom sizes and fabrications.
In June 2010, Research Frontiers invited other smart window companies to join in its efforts to educate the public by contributing full-sized product samples for side-by-side public comparisons. To date, no smart window companies have accepted this offer. With at least one other smart window company scheduled to exhibit at this show, attendees at Glass Expo Northeast 2011 will finally have the opportunity to experience and compare the performance of SPD-SmartGlass and electrochromic window products at the same venue.
Glass Expo Northeast is the region’s largest conference and trade show dedicated to the architectural glass and metal industry. Additional details about Glass Expo Northeast are available from the event website.
Research Frontiers will exhibit a number of SPD-Smart products that have been fabricated by licensees LTI Smart Glass, SmartGlass International Ltd., and Innovative Glass Corporation. Visitors will see fast-switching (even in windows up to 30 ft2 in size) and infinitely tunable examples of SPD-SmartGlass. These products will feature SPD “dark” and “light” films fabricated with glass and lightweight polycarbonate panels. Attendees also will see products that can meet advanced security requirements. All of these products are available now for new construction, replacement and retrofit projects. Representatives of Research Frontiers and LTI Smart Glass will be on hand to discuss the technology, its performance advantages and its many fabrication possibilities. On March 16 and 17, LTI Smart Glass also will be exhibiting SPD-SmartGlass at the 2011 National Facilities Management & Technology Conference/Expo (booth # 2174) held at the Baltimore Convention Center in Baltimore, MD. The NFMT Conference/Expo is the country’s leading conference and exposition for non-residential building owners, facility managers, maintenance engineers, directors of sustainability and building managers.
More information about the NFMT Conference/Expo is available from the event website. More information about LTI Smart Glass is available from the company’s website.
